A mighty warrior and leader of legendary renown, Elrond has been at the forefront of many great battles – fighting against Sauron in the War of the Last Alliance and bearing witness to the Dark Lord's downfall. It was he who tried to convince Isildur to destroy the One Ring for good – an act that would have prevented much suffering in the Third Age. Beyond his martial and spellcasting skills, Elrond is also blessed with the gift of foresight, and thus able to provide great wisdom to his allies. Elrond is depicted here in the intricate and ornate armour he wore during the War of the Last Alliance and accompanied by a High Elf bannerman bearing the banner of Gil-galad. The Elves are among the most skilled warriors in all of Middle-earth, their prowess on the battlefield far exceeding that of Men and Dwarves, and Elven archery is unrivalled in all the known lands. Although their armies are greatly diminished when compared to the vast Elven hosts of ages past, their might remains enough to face any foe upon the battlefield. The breaking of the oath pledged to Isildur lies with this King of Ages past. Though cursed, and his body long since reduced to dust, his spirit lingers on until he honours his word. Upon the arrival of Aragorn, this king agrees to take up arms against the armies of Mordor - the oath that was promised will finally be fulfilled and the dead will at last find the peace they so desperately crave. This set contains the King of the Dead and two of his lieutenants, Heralds of the Dead. Each of these three Heroes can lead a warband of the Dead of Dunharrow, allowing you to use much larger armies of these spectral warriors in your games. The King of the Dead is a terrifying foe, able to slay even the mightiest warrior with a single blow, while the presence of Heralds of the Dead augments their spectral liege. When the Fellowship of the Ring was broken at Amon Hen, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli chose to pursue the Uruk-hai who had abducted the Hobbits Merry and Pippin. These Three Hunters tracked the enemy to Rohan, where they fought alongside King Théoden at Helm's Deep, before turning to ancient paths in search of allies – and Aragorn's destiny. During the Battle of Pelennor Fields, they arrived at the Docks of Harlond when things seemed darkest for the White City, leading the Army of the Dead – and with them came victory for the Men of the West. This plastic kit builds three Citadel miniatures representing Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, the Three Hunters, as they appeared at the docks of Harlond in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King™. The Three Hunters are a great addition to any Good army, providing hard-hitting power both up close and at range. He wears an Elven cloak over his forest-hued clothing. Gimli is marching menacingly towards the foe, a double-handed axe ready to cleave some Orc heads. Greatest of the ancient race of Ents, Treebeard is immensely old and has potentially roamed the forests of Middle-earth from the dawn of the world. Since the loss of the Entwives, Treebeard has cared little for the goings-on of those outside Fangorn Forest, instead concerning himself with shepherding those under his care. Should a threat come to Fangorn, Treebeard will undoubtedly unleash his wrath against it. Meriadoc Brandybuck, a Hobbit often just called Merry, is a known troublemaker and practical joker. More than once he has been responsible for setting off Gandalf's fireworks, much to the annoyance of the Grey Wizard. However, Merry is ready to help Frodo in his quest and sets out from the Shire into a life of adventure and discovery that will change him forever. Peregrin Took, or Pippin to those who know him, is a carefree Hobbit who is content with his life of mischief alongside his best friend, Merry. But when Pippin volunteers to be part of the Fellowship of The Ring, he has little idea of the perils that lie ahead – and the fact that he will have to leave second breakfast behind in The Shire. Treebeard is a natural leader of the Fangorn army list, both in terms of the narrative of Middle-earth and his near-unstoppable power on the battlefield. He can bear Merry and Pippin to battle, as he did while leading the Last March of the Ents, and the kit includes the option to include both Hobbits atop his shoulder branches. Merry and Pippin also feature in the set as models on foot in their own right - in fact, they're a little taller than normal, as they've recently imbibed Ent-draught, which has given them an enchanted growth spurt! This kit comprises 63 plastic components with which you can assemble 1x Treebeard (who can be assembled with or without 'mounted' versions of Merry and Pippin), 1x Meriadoc Brandybuck on foot, and 1x Peregrin Took on foot.
